On Tuesday, July 23, The Opportunity Network again partnered with Michelle Obama's Reach Higher initiative at the 5th Annual Beating the Odds Summit held at Howard University in Washington, DC . The summit, launched by the former First Lady during her time at the White House, is aimed at supporting first-generation college-bound students succeed on campus and graduate ready to lead thriving lives.

OppNet led workshops and participated in the summit in 2015 and 2016, and was thrilled to be invited this year to lead all content and workshops for the students in attendance, who hailed from across the country. After the summit's opening panels, students engaged in OppNet's signature "Anatomy of a College Campus" workshop, which helps students develop the skills needed to navigate any campus landscape, and access the appropriate academic, financial, and personal resources to drive their goals forward. OppNet also led lessons and workshops on other key skills and concepts critical to college success that are hallmarks of our six-year OppNet Fellows program.

It was an honor to share aspects of OppNet's Career Fluency® model to guide more students on their paths to college and career success. And in recognition of the success of our model, NowThis News, the summit's media partner, has created a video "Learning Playlist" featuring interviews and insights from OppNet team members to be published on YouTube as part of its efforts to reach students seeking support in reaching college success. We welcome you to check out those videos below this article, and we are excited to continue expanding our work and deepening partnerships like this in the future to connect even more students to college and career opportunity.
