Alumni Leadership Council

Mesbah Uddin

Mesbah Uddin is a 2015 OppNet alum. He is a graduate of Georgetown University and University College London, and is a Gates Millennium Scholar. In his role as Senior Marketing Manager, Mesbah oversees the creative direction and brand strategy for the pharmacy management vertical of Nuvem (formerly Apovia), an integrated pharmacy services company working under the Federal 340B program to bring affordable drugs to underprivileged patient populations. In his free time, Mesbah works on creative projects — mainly videos — as a writer, director, and editor.

Why he joined the ALC: I joined the ALC with the hopes of strengthening and growing alumni participation in OppNet's community. You’re a Fellow for six years, but you’re an alum for life, so an active ALC means greater professional advancement for all alums and Fellows.

One of his favorite books: Meditations by Marcus Aurelius

Why it’s one of his favorite books: Meditations by Marcus Aurelius changed my life. This book promotes virtues such as rationality, respect, self-restraint, moderation, and lifelong learning, and it does so using deductive reasoning, meaning you only have to look within yourself to find the ingredients for a life well lived. Some people call Aurelius’ teachings stoicism, but I think Meditations so astutely portrays human and physical nature that it can jive with any philosophical tradition or religion.

“The things you think about determine the quality of your mind. Your soul is dyed by the color of your thoughts.”
