SSRP Staff

← Return to the main SSRP page

The SSRP team comprises a lead Teacher and three Teacher Assistants (TAs) who are current OppNet Fellows majoring in sciences and have relevant experience. During the six weeks of SSRP, students meet four times weekly with instructors and TAs with a mix of in-person and virtual sessions. Program content is anchored by our commitment to Youth Participatory Action Research, social justice, and culturally responsive practices. The program consists of the following elements:

  1. Instructor Led Seminars - Introduction to new science research concepts (twice per week) led by the lead Teacher
  2. Lab Group Meetings - Small group sessions led by the TAs to work together with other students interested in a similar research topic (once or twice per week)
  3. Assignments - An opportunity to apply learning and directly contribute to the completion of the final project
  4. Career Exposure Opportunities - Additional lunch & learn sessions, field trips, and panels to learn about career pathways in STEM
